Ok, well, this is the closest track of the day that I am going to get to Canada Day on Sunday, so I am going for it!!

This song has basically been embraced as a kind of indie-rock national anthem of sorts... Joel Plaskett would essentially be dragged off the stage and beaten if he didn't play it this tune on the Canada Day long weekend... or... would he be? A quick glance at his tour schedule shows he is playing the weekend in New York State with the Tragically Hip!! What the... ? Did Parliament Hill lose his number?

Anyhow, it may be strangely ironic that Joel would be south of the border this weekend, since this song is often misinterpreted as a "rah rah" Canada tune, whereas really, if you listen closely, it is about the fear of losing the Canadian identity.

With those thoughts in mind, dig in to "True Patriot Love" and have a great Canada Day long weekend.
