George W. Bush, holler "Bring it on!"
At this point, if I were you, I'd be suspicious that somebody was trying to trick me into eating something weird, so I'll come straight to the point.
As of mid- March, we will no longer be doing the Saturday Night Show on CBC Radio Two.
For months now, a great deal of work has gone into rethinking CBC's radio offerings, and here's how it's all going down.
Radio One focusing more on news, and talk.
Radio Two will expand its jazz and contemporary classical music programming to include a greater percentage of Canadian artists, and add more arts reporting. And
Radio 3, ever scouting out new frontiers, will continue to push the envelope on the web and satellite.
At first, feelings around the office were mixed about the decision, but being the sorts who always try to make a dollar out of 25 cents, we saw a silver lining. The
Saturday Night Show was a lot of work to produce, so with this off our shoulders, we can finally start working on projects that until now we just haven't had the resources to tackle. Without revealing too much (or painting ourselves into a corner), I can tell you that this will involve a new website design that will allow us to better deliver much of the content currently only available on satellite, as well as a number of new podcasts.
Sometimes change is good.
That's our story anyway, and we're sticking to it.
