Canadian hip-hop artist Choclair is branching into the energy drink business.
He's releasing Skyline, a neon-coloured, non-alcoholic, berry-flavoured beverage that's named after one of his songs. The drink features guarana seed extract, which the drink's marketers say has the same stimulant effects as caffeine.
"We wanted to put out something with a little Canadian pride in it. So we have the Toronto skyline on the can, and the drink is red, representing the colour of our country. It tastes kind of like a cooler but there's no alcohol in it," said Choclair during an interview with CBC Radio 3. "But you can mix it with something if you want."
The rapper also said that he and his business partners in Skyhigh beverages are planning to produce a version of the drink called the "T-dot Shot" that does contain alcohol.
Skyline will also be released in Brazil, Nigeria, and Mexico, and will feature city skylines from those countries.
